Bush may bring troops early
US President George Bush is set to ask the US for more time to let success bloom in Iraq even as the assassination of a Sunni sheikh who revolted against al-Qaida sent a chilling reminder of the pervasive instability there.
The president’s pitch for more time – which has aggravated Democrats as well as many rank-and-file Republicans in his party – is scheduled for a televised address at 2am (Irish time) tomorrow.
