Kate McCann named as suspect, says family friend

Kate McCann was today made an "arguida", or formal suspect, by detectives investigating the disappearance of her daughter Madeleine, a family friend said.

Mrs McCann kissed her two-year-old twins Sean and Amelie goodbye this morning before going to the police station, a family spokeswoman said.
