15-year-old suicide bomber caught by Israeli army

The Israeli army today said it foiled a 15-year-old Palestinian suicide bomber who tried to attack soldiers operating in the northern Gaza Strip.

The bomber was stopped overnight on Tuesday as he approached soldiers, the army said. He was strapped with explosives that he planned to detonate when he reached the force.

Details on how the army persuaded the bomber to surrender were not immediately available.

Publication of the incident was prohibited until the operation ended today, the army said.

The army frequently operates in northern Gaza to halt rocket attacks launched from the area.

Yesterday, an Israeli attack aimed at a rocket launcher killed three children playing nearby.
