Strong earthquake strikes fire-ravaged Greece
A strong earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.0 struck fire-ravaged southern Greece today, the Athens Geodynamic Institute said.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
The quake struck at 12.05pm (10.05 Irish time) and had an epicentre 115 miles west of Athens, nine miles east of Pyrgos near Ancient Olympia, the institute said.
The quake panicked residents in the region and was felt in areas where firefighters were battling blazes.
