British man stabbed to death in US

A 37-year-old man has been stabbed to death while on holiday in America, police said today.

Paul Lavern Ritch, from Cardiff, was on a working holiday in New Jersey when he was stabbed in the early hours of Sunday.

Police believe Mr Ritch, who was known as Lavern, had been trying to intervene in an incident when he was attacked.

A South Wales Police spokeswoman said: “We are supporting the family of a 37-year-old Cardiff man who was fatally stabbed while on a working holiday in the State of New Jersey in the USA.

“It is believed he was stabbed in the chest as he tried to intervene after witnessing an incident in the street.”
