Two people died in the RAF helicopter crash in North Yorkshire, police said today.

The aircraft came down in a wooded area to the west of Catterick Garrison just around 9pm yesterday. Ten people were injured, some seriously.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said two fatalities had been confirmed at the scene.

He said three of the people on board the helicopter were RAF crew and nine Army personnel were passengers.
