Three killed in US school 'execution' shooting

Four young people were lined up against a wall and shot in the head at close range in a US school car park, authorities said.

Three victims died and one survived the overnight incident at the K-8 Mount Vernon School in Newark, prosecutor’s office spokesman Paul Loriquet said.

A woman, Ofemi Hightower, and two men, Terrance Aeriel and Deshawn Harvey, were killed, said Loriquet, who did not know their ages.

Aeriel’s 19-year-old sister, Natasha, was in fair condition at a hospital yesterday afternoon.

The victims were friends from Newark who had gone to the school to hang out and listen to music, said Essex County prosecutor Paula Dow.

“They were good kids,” she said.

The Aeriels and Harvey were students at Delaware State University, said Carlos Holmes, a spokesman for the school in Dover, Delaware.

A motive has not been determined, and no suspects have been identified, Dow said.

Some of the victims’ belongings had been stolen, she said.
