Israel strikes at Islamic Jihad

One Palestinian was killed and seven wounded in an Israeli air strike on a vehicle near the southern Gaza Strip’s border with Egypt this evening, eyewitnesses and hospital staff said.

The Israeli military confirmed it carried out an attack in the area but could not immediately give details.

The militant Islamic Jihad group said some of its members were travelling in the vehicle and an eyewitnesses said several explosions came from within the car after the attack, suggesting that it had been carrying explosives.
