Body found in UK floods
Police searching for a teenager who vanished during heavy flooding in the UK have today found a body.
Mitchell Taylor, 19, was last seen in the early hours of last Saturday after leaving a bar in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire.
The body was discovered on flooded parkland near the town's iconic abbey.
His distraught family had said his disappearance was “totally out of character” and coincided with the peak of the floods in the town.
A Gloucestershire Police spokeswoman said the body had been discovered by an Italian hovercraft crew in a submerged field.
She said: “At 11.45 this morning, fire service travelling in a hovercraft on a submerged field off Gander lane, Tewkesbury, found a body yet to be identified.
“The coroner has been informed.”
Earlier this week two men died in the town as they attempted to clear flood water from a rugby club cellar.
