Soldier killed targeting Taliban
A soldier was killed in an operation targeting the Taliban in southern Afghanistan today, the Ministry of Defence said.
A member of the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards, he was killed as his company came under fire after securing a bridge north east of Gereshk in Helmand province.
He was the second British casualty in the province in as many days and the 66th since military operations began in Afghanistan in November 2001.
