Rampaging Indian elephants kill eight people

Two domesticated elephants went on the rampage in India’s remote north-east, killing eight people and wounding five others before being shot dead by police.

Police were searching for the owners of the elephants and trying to establish what caused the violent behaviour, which is rare among tamed elephants.
