British man among four climbers found frozen to death
A British climber who died while attempting to scale Mont Blanc in the French Alps was named today by the Foreign Office as Mark Emerson.
The 30-year-old died from cold exposure along with three other climbers after losing their way on the snow-capped mountain.
French police said the bodies of the quartet, the rest of whom were women from New Zealand, France and Chile, were found at a height of 13,120ft.
A spokeswoman for the Foreign Office said today: “One Briton was killed in the commune of St Gervais. He was one of four climbers who died from cold exposure.
“Next of kin have been informed.”
