A state leader accused Australia's government today of incompetence in its handling of the case of Indian terror suspect Mohamed Haneef.

A state leader accused Australia's government today of incompetence in its handling of the case of Indian terror suspect Mohamed Haneef.

The government shot back by saying that Queensland state Premier Peter Beattie's comments eroded confidence in Australia's federal police, as sniping over Haneef's case degenerated further after more than a week of controversy.
