12 killed as carbomb targets Shia area of Baghdad

At least 12 people were killed and 19 wounded when three parked cars exploded in a predominantly Shiite area of Baghdad today.

The first explosion, which occurred about 11am local time, targeted a passing police patrol, killing six people - three policemen and three pedestrians - and wounding nine other people, a police officer said.
