Chirac questioned in French corruption probe
Former French president Jacques Chirac was being questioned by judges today in an investigation into a fake jobs scandal, Paris Match magazine reported.
Mr Chirac was being questioned as a material witness in his Paris offices, in the presence of his lawyer, by judge Alain Philibeaux, Paris Match said on its website.
Judicial officials and Mr Chirac’s office could not immediately be reached for comment.
The probe concerns a fake jobs scheme used to finance Mr Chirac’s conservative party while he was mayor of Paris, before he became president in 1995.
