Thailand to freeze more Thaksin assets
The Thai government will freeze an additional €12.1m in assets believed to be controlled by ousted Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, who has been accused of corruption, an official said today.
The latest order to freeze the assets of the new owner of Premier Division side Manchester City and his family would bring the total money frozen on suspicion it was obtained through corrupt means to more than €1.9bn.
The panel is seeking the money earned from the Shinawatra family’s sale last year of telecommunications company Shin Corp Family members face charges that stock market regulations were broken in connection with the sale.
