Heavy rains triggered landslides that struck two villages in Pakistan's mountainous northwest today, leaving 23 people dead and 16 others injured, police said.

The deaths were caused by people trapped under the rubble of homes that were hit by landslides in the villages of Gayal and Mangri in Kohistan district, police officer Habib Khan said.
