Annan: Blair's new role is 'tough assignment'

Tony Blair has taken on a “tough assignment” by becoming a special Middle East envoy after stepping down as prime minister this week, former UN secretary-general Kofi Annan said today.

Annan said Blair had shown a keen interest in the Middle East throughout his time in office.
