Anglican Church to vote on same-sex unions in Canada
The Anglican Church of Canada will try again today to vote on the issue of blessing same-sex unions.
Members of the General Synod meeting in Winnipeg, Manitoba, yesterday debated whether or not to allow Anglican priests to bless same-sex couples in an open session that was intended to culminate in a resolution.
But after hours of wrangling over procedural issues, it was decided they would try again today.
The resolution on the table would not permit priests to marry same-sex couples, but rather to conduct blessing ceremonies for civilly married gay couples.
