North Korea’s plutonium-producing reactor could be shut down in three weeks’ time in a deal agreed with the US, a top nuclear envoy said today.

Christopher Hill – the chief US negotiator at international talks on North Korea’s nuclear programmes – said they were looking at a three-week timeframe for closing the Yongbyon reactor, when asked by reporters on his arrival at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport.
