Middle East quartet to meet in Jerusalem

Representatives of the Quartet of Middle East peacemakers will meet on Tuesday in Jerusalem, a Russian envoy said according the Interfax news agency.

Sergei Yakovlev, a Russian Foreign Ministry envoy for Middle East peacemaking, said the envoys “will discuss the situation in the region, the talks for the Quartet and plans of action for the future,” Interfax reported.

A higher-level meeting of Quartet officials was to have taken place on Monday in Egypt, but was delayed after Hamas’ takeover of the Gaza Strip.
