Passenger rushed to hospital after flight drama

A passenger on board a British Airways flight to Miami was taken to hospital today after she fell ill, health officials said.

The 45-year-old woman suffered from fever, diarrhoea and vomiting on the flight from London Heathrow to Miami International Airport.

Officials from the Centre for Disease Control attended the airport and said the passenger was suffering from a “basic gastro-intestinal virus”.

Karen Hunter, of the CDC, said the virus was not infectious or contagious and the woman had not been quarantined.

“The woman asked to be taken to hospital, and that’s what’s happened,” she said.

No further details on the woman’s identity were available.

Ms Hunter added that, despite initial concerns, there was no health risk to other passengers on board.

The flight involved was the BA 207 which landed in Miami at around 1.45pm local time.
