Taliban militants drown after troops sink boat

More than 20 suspected Taliban militants drowned when security forces sank their boat as they were crossing a river to flee an attack in Afghanistan, officials said today.

Gun battles and airstrikes also killed an estimated 24 Taliban fighters in southern Afghanistan, according to reports.
