Johnston recording sent to Palestinian news agency

A Palestinian news agency today said it had received a recording of BBC reporter Alan Johnston, kidnapped in the Gaza Strip two and a half months ago.

The Ramattan news agency said it received the recording from the Army of Islam, the Palestinian group believed to be holding Mr Johnston.

The tape has not been broadcast, and there was no way to immediately verify the agency’s report that the tape was of Mr Johnston, 45, from Argyllshire, who was kidnapped in Gaza City on March 12.
