Two whales that took a wrong turn and swam 90 miles inland to California’s capital are heading back towards the Pacific Ocean today, according to the US Coastguard.

The humpback mother and her calf started moving south west and were about five miles back down the Sacramento River last night, Petty Officer Brian Leshak said.
