Rebel leaders in the Central African Republic have agreed to begin sending home several hundred child soldiers to their families, UN officials said today.

Gen. Damane Zakaria, whose rebel army controls a portion of the country's north-east, said he would liberate a 400 children, Unicef said in a statement.
