Abbas: Location of kidnapped journalist known

Palestinian security forces know the whereabouts of kidnapped BBC journalist Alan Johnston, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas was quoted as saying today.

He suggested troops were reluctant to use force for fear harm might come to the 44-year-old hostage.

“We want to protect his life and finish this safely,” Mr Abbas was quoted as saying by a Fatah-affiliated website.

Mr Johnston, from Argyllshire, was seized outside his Gaza City apartment on March 12.
