Lebanon war panel delivers preliminary findings

Results of a long-awaited Israeli government probe into last year's war in Lebanon were delivered today to Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.

The investigation's preliminary report is expected to be highly critical of Mr Olmert's handling of the war, which ended in a stalemate after 34 days of fighting. The findings are likely to fuel renewed calls for Mr Olmert to resign.

Commission spokesman Eli Shaked confirmed the five-member panel was at the prime minister's office in Jerusalem to turn over their report.

The results were to be made public later today.
