Thailand's prime minister said today he supported allowing Buddhists to arm themselves against Muslim insurgents who are targeting civilians.

Thailand's prime minister said today he supported allowing Buddhists to arm themselves against Muslim insurgents who are targeting civilians.

"Buddhists are taking up arms for self-defence. The government is happy to support them for such purpose," Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont told reporters during his one-day visit to the south.
