A bus carrying 40 passengers on a shopping trip plunged 50 feet off a cliff in north-eastern Brazil today, killing 11 people and injuring 29, authorities say.

A bus carrying 40 passengers on a shopping trip plunged 50 feet off a cliff in north-eastern Brazil today, killing 11 people and injuring 29, authorities say.

The bus apparently had brake problems and fell straight into the ravine in a mountainous region near the city of Tiangua, some 1,430 miles north-east of Sao Paulo, police said.
