Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao arrived in Japan today for a fence-mending trip aimed at setting aside the key trading partners’ historical disputes and improving cooperation in business, environment and diplomacy.

Wen and his Japanese counterpart, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, are expected to sign a joint statement that Japanese media said would avoid mention of disagreements over territory and the war-time past, and instead focus on working together
