Serbia jails video death squad

Four Serb paramilitaries seen in a video executing Bosnian Muslims near Srebrenica in 1995 were found guilty of murder today by Serbia’s War Crimes Court.

They were sentenced to a total of 58 years in prison.

A fifth defendant, also a member of the notorious Scorpions paramilitary unit, was found not guilty at the landmark trial.

It was Serbia’s first case related to Europe’s worst atrocity since the Second World War – the murder of up to 8,000 Muslim men and boys in the final months of the 1992-95 ethnic conflict in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
