Bemba supporters in gun battles with Congolese army

Fighters loyal to a failed presidential candidate clashed with army forces in the Democratic Republic of Congo’s capital Kinshasa today, UN officials and witnesses said.

It was the first fighting in the city since a leader was elected late last year in the country’s first free presidential vote in decades.
