Howard willing to sacrifice govt over Iraq war decision

Australia’s prime minister admitted today that his country’s commitment to the Iraq war was unpopular, but said he was willing to sacrifice his government over the issue at the ballot box this year.

John Howard’s standing has been battered according to recent opinion polls, as the opposition Labour Party gains popularity with it promise to withdraw troops from Iraq.
