Five killed in Mogadishu battle

Somali and Ethiopian troops entered an insurgent stronghold in central Mogadishu today, triggering a battle that left at least five people dead and 12 injured.

Insurgents have fired mortars and rocket-propelled grenades at the Somali forces and their Ethiopian allies almost daily, but so far they have only responded with artillery, fighting from within their compounds.
