South Africa today unveiled a new five-year plan to reduce the number of new HIV infections by 50 per cent and expand its treatment programme to cover 80 per cent of people with AIDS.

The ambitious programme was due to be discussed at a two-day Johannesburg conference grouping political leaders and AIDS activists.
