Three killed in French Alps

Two skiers were killed in an avalanche and a hiker fell off a cliff to his death in separate incidents in the French Alps today, rescuers said.

Two off-piste skiers died after being swept up in an avalanche near the Valloire ski station in the Savoie region, rescuers said.

Separately, a hiker in snow shoes tumbled off a 15m cliff in the nearby Isere region today.

The victims were not named.
