25 hurt as rock concert floor collapses in Sweden

Around 25 people were taken to hospital with minor injuries after parts of a floor collapsed in a Swedish opera house during a rock concert, police said today.

Witnesses told news agency TT that parts of a makeshift floor at the Umea opera house in northern Sweden gave way during a concert with Swedish rock band Mando Diao late night.

It sent dozens in the audience – mostly youths – falling about six feet to the floor below.

Many of those injured suffered broken bones and fractures, witnesses said, but no deaths were reported.

The opera house was evacuated after the incident.
