Two US marines killed in Iraq fighting
Two US Marines were killed today during fighting in a Sunni insurgent stronghold west of Baghdad, the military said.
A Marine assigned to the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force Headquarters Group and another Marine assigned to Regimental Combat Team 5 died from wounds sustained due to enemy action while operating in Anbar province, the military said in a statement.
Their identities were not released pending notification of relatives.
The deaths raised to at least 3,066 members of the US military who have died since the invasion of Iraq in March 2003.
