Iran nuclear stand-off 'could escalate

The head of the UN nuclear watchdog said today that he was concerned that the UN sanctions on Iran could escalate the stand-off with the US and its European allies.

Mohamed ElBaradei, speaking in Paris, called for a resumption of negotiations with Iran, which the US and other nations accuse of seeking to develop nuclear weapons.
