US raids did not kill al-Qaida suspect

Somali and Ethiopian forces skirmished with Islamic militiamen in southern Somalia Thursday, as US troops on the ground hunted for al-Qaida suspects.

A senior US official in the region said US and Ethiopian troops in southern Somalia were still pursuing three senior al-Qaida members believed to be responsible for bombing US embassies in East Africa in 1998.
