A 48-year-old man has been arrested at his home address in Ipswich on suspicion of murdering five women.
The man, who was arrested at approximately 5am this morning, is currently in custody at a police station in Suffolk, where he will be questioned about the deaths later today.
Police will not be naming the police station where the man is being held.
Forensic experts and search teams were at an address in the red light area of Ipswich today.
Witnesses said police were at a house in London Road. The police source described the latest arrest as “significant”.
The 37-year-old man, who was arrested at his home in Trimley yesterday, remains in custody.
Earlier today detectives said a senior officer had given them more time to question 37-year-old supermarket worker.
Detectives said they had been given until around 7.30pm tonight to continue to hold him following a review of his arrest by a superintendent.
Police will need to apply to a magistrate if they want to question him after that.
