Serial murders: Post mortem due on fifth woman

A UK Home Office pathologist was today preparing to examine the body of the fifth woman found near Ipswich in England during the past two weeks.

The woman was one of two found dead in woods near Levington, Suffolk, on Tuesday.

Pathologist Dr Nat Cary carried out post mortem tests on the first woman late last night.

Police today said the second body would be removed to a hospital for examination in the next few hours.

Detectives are hoping that Dr Cary's examination of the two women will give new clues about the man they believe is stalking prostitutes in the red light area of Ipswich.

Officers say they have received about 2,500 calls from members of the public offering information this week.

The detective leading the hunt says police are analysing the information to assess whether any evidence will point them to the killer.

They are trying to find the owner of a blue BMW into which one of the murdered prostitutes – Anneli Alderton – reportedly climbed at some point last week.

Officers are also waiting to see whether any items of clothing found in and around Ipswich in the last few days are of significance.

They are waiting to analyse a handbag and a jacket believed to have been found late last night.
