A senior British police officer said today that he was considering making a direct appeal to the person responsible for the deaths of five prostitutes.

Detective Chief Superintendent Stewart Gull, who is heading the investigation in Ipswich, Suffolk, said he was talking to a behavioural analyst and may send a direct message to the killer.
