'Del Boy' sought over sculpture theft

Police in Britain were today hunting a Del Boy lookalike who stole a valuable bust from an art gallery.

The man, who wore a flat cap and long camel coat, sneaked the silver bust out of a gallery in Chester, England while posing as a browser.

The piece, created by sculptor John Blakeley, depicts celebrated artist LS Lowry and is valued at £3,000 (€4,400).

A spokesman for Cheshire Constabulary said the man visited Baron Fine Art several times in a three-day period last month, when the theft took place.

The man is described as a white, aged 65 to 68, and of medium build.

Although he dressed like Derek Trotter, the Cockney wide-boy immortalised by David Jason in BBC1 comedy Only Fools And Horses, he spoke with a north-west English accent.
