Child stabbed to death at Dutch primary school

A masked man stabbed a child to death at a Dutch primary school today, local media reported.

The incident happened shortly before midday local time at a school in the town of Hoogerheide, 90 miles south of Amsterdam.

Police reported that a child had died as a result of a violent crime but gave no further details.

A nearby resident told the national broadcaster NOS that the killer was believed to be the father of the dead child.

“I’ve heard that it was a family drama,” said the neighbour, whom the NOS identified as Mrs. Schot.

Authorities established a crisis centre at the town hall in nearby Woensdrecht.

Police did not immediately return calls seeking further comment.
