BBC chairman Michael Grade has resigned to take up a top post at rivals ITV, it was reported tonight.

The Corporation’s flagship Ten O’Clock News said the former Channel 4 chief, who took over the top job at the corporation in 2004, was reportedly set to become executive chairman of ITV.
