Two dead after wave hits oil tanker
Two men were killed and another seriously injured today after being hit by a wave on an oil tanker.
The incident happened on board the Fr8 Venture shortly after the tanker had left the Pentland Firth, near Orkney, en route to Houston, Texas, in storm force weather conditions.
Stornoway coastguard received a call from the vessel at around 12.40pm and sent a rescue helicopter which airlifted a doctor onboard.
Two of the men were found to be already dead while another was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
