China to check length and condition of great wall

China today said it would use technology to check the length and condition of the Great Wall to find ways to better protect the country’s most famous landmark.

The wall weaves for thousands of miles through a dozen provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions in northern China, much of it in remote areas, but its exact length and condition are not known.
