67 Sri Lankan sailors killed in Tamil Tiger suicide attack

Sixty-seven sailors were killed in a suicide blast triggered by Tamil Tiger rebels in central Sri Lanka today, a navy official said.

The explosion occurred near the town of Dambulla, a navy official said.

Military spokesman Brig. Prasad Samarasinghe said the rebels rammed a small truck loaded with explosives into a naval convoy travelling along a road.
